This year’s President Rev Dr Paul Edmondson kicked off the Club’s new season in style with his address on Tuesday 14 October. And what a great evening was had by everyone! Paul’s subject was Shakespeare, Stratford, and I, and the packed audience enjoyed a personal account of how his life-long love of Shakespeare began and developed. Paul’s a familiar face locally through his work with the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust and community projects like Shakespeare’s Coming Home! It was fascinating to hear about how he has also used Shakespeare to find and promote connections in Europe, North America and across the world. His the the author of many successful books on Shakespeare-related subjects. The photograph shows him wearing the rainbow ribbon from which was suspended the 1827 Shakespeare Club medal, given to the Club in 2024 by then-President Professor Emma Smith.
